Check your plant’s identity
Does the label say Dianella caerulea, blue flax-lily or paroo lily? Other Dianella species (such as D. tasmanica, D. revoluta or D. ensifolia) and New Zealand flax (Phormium) are different plants. If the label is missing or unclear, choose I'm not sure; the picture does not confirm your plant.
Important precautions
Do not eat the berries. A poisons information centre lists Dianella berries as potentially toxic (evidence is limited) and RHS says the fruit is not to be eaten. Keep children and pets away from them; if someone eats them and feels unwell, get medical advice. Wear gloves when handling.
Care guidance is partial and depends on your growing conditions. Check the available guidance in the app; this profile does not promise complete care. A representative illustration does not confirm your plant’s identity.
