Cape primrose
Streptocarpus × hybridus
Check your plant’s identity
Does the label name Cape primrose or a rosulate Streptocarpus hybrid, with long crinkled hairy leaves in a rosette and flowers on tall stalks? This is a horticultural hybrid group, not one accepted species. African violets (Streptocarpus ionanthus), trailing S. saxorum and other stemmed Streptocarpella, single-leaved S. wendlandii or S. dunnii, and Primula are excluded. A bare Streptocarpus label without that growth form is not enough. If unsure, choose I’m not sure.
Important precautions
ASPCA lists Cape primrose as non-toxic to cats, dogs and horses. That listing says nothing about people, so don't eat it.
Care guidance is partial and depends on your growing conditions. Check the available guidance in the app; this profile does not promise complete care. A representative illustration does not confirm your plant’s identity.
