Garden catmint

Nepeta × faassenii

Check your plant’s identity

Does the label say Nepeta × faassenii (garden or Faassen's catmint), or a variety sold under that name such as 'Six Hills Giant'? Catnip (Nepeta cataria), with white flowers, is a different plant, as are other catmints such as Nepeta racemosa or Nepeta grandiflora. 'Walker's Low' is sold under both Nepeta × faassenii and Nepeta racemosa; choose this plant only if the label says Nepeta × faassenii. If the label is missing or unclear, choose I'm not sure.

Important precautions

This is not catnip. We found no pet or human toxicity rating for this catmint. Catnip, a close relative, is listed as toxic to cats and can cause vomiting and diarrhoea, so do not assume this plant is safe for pets. Cats may also roll on it. If a pet eats it and seems unwell, contact your vet.

Care guidance is partial and depends on your growing conditions. Check the available guidance in the app; this profile does not promise complete care. A representative illustration does not confirm your plant’s identity.
