Crimson bottlebrush

Melaleuca citrina

Check your plant’s identity

Does the label say crimson bottlebrush, Callistemon citrinus or Melaleuca citrina? Other bottlebrushes, such as weeping bottlebrush, and bottlebrush buckeye are different plants. Named cultivars such as 'Firebrand' are often smaller. If the label is missing or unclear, choose I'm not sure; the picture does not confirm your plant.

Important precautions

Not a food plant. Bottlebrushes are listed as non-toxic to dogs, cats and horses, but eating any plant can upset a pet's stomach. Do not confuse it with bottlebrush buckeye, which is toxic. In Florida, the University of Florida advises against planting it because of invasion risk.

Care guidance is partial and depends on your growing conditions. Check the available guidance in the app; this profile does not promise complete care. A representative illustration does not confirm your plant’s identity.
